The combination of Italian styling and British engineering has been a hallmark of Aston Martin’s automobiles for nearly 70 years. This 1954 DB2/4 drophead is one of two built with this stunning coachwork by Bertone, a departure from the later Astons famously bodied by Zagato. The example here was ordered via British Motor Car Distributors in San Francisco and delivered in November 1954 to car enthusiast and San Francisco Opera member Edith Field. The car placed third at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance the next year, and would cross the Atlantic before recently coming back to the US in a private collection. The car still has its original tool roll and a mountain of documentation along with being in excellent condition.
