While not the rarest of Submariner references, the “Big Crown” 6200 is among the most sought-after. Built with a gilt Explorer dial and lacking graduation markings on the bezel, they’re immediately identifiable. This particular example is highly original, with a seemingly unpolished case, a bezel insert that’s faded to a deep purple, and an original crystal with heavy crazing. Underneath, the dial is appropriately aged with speckling patina, while the lume has aged to a golden hue on both the numerals and Mercedes-style hands. Recently overhauled, it arrives on an 11-link Swiss rivet Rolex bracelet with a 1969 date code.
