BLACK TOMATO FIELD TRIPS

Black Tomato is adding an educational layer to its luxury travel itineraries with Field Trips. Designed for ages 12 and up, the a la carte classes take learning beyond the classroom to offer young adults hands-on opportunities around the world. Made up of 64 educational experiences from 8 categories, the unique programs will have travelers exploring Scotland’s Loch Ness with researcher Adrian Shine, working with conservationists on rhino notching efforts in Kenya, or touring Egypt’s legendary “city of the dead.” For the tech enthusiasts, their STEM experiences take visitors to Chile’s massive ESO Paranal Observatory with a stop at the famous Paranal Residencia — featured as the backdrop for part of the James Bond movie Quantum of Solace. Young scientists can also visit CERN in Geneva and view the most powerful particle accelerator in the world. Lessons can be either half-day or multi-day excursions and can upgrade the brand’s bespoke trips or inspire a custom journey.
