To Mark 200 Years Young, The Macallan is Releasing Two Unique New Whiskies in Celebration of the Brand’s Interpretation of Time Travel Through Whisky Mastery
Presented in bespoke vessels created through cutting-edge engineering and ancient craftsmanship, The Macallan’s TIME : SPACE Mastery is now available in Canada. This unique single malt embraces 200 years of history, with layers of complexity that pay tribute to past whisky masters through an exceptional inventory of oak casks. TIME : SPACE is a dual-chamber vessel that includes a 1940 vintage – the oldest whisky released by The Macallan at 84 Years Old, and a second single malt distilled in 2018 and bottled at 5 Years Old. The Macallan’s TIME : SPACE is available to purchase through invitation, with price available upon application.
Both Releases Are Symbolic Expressions of The Macallan
Shaped by an ongoing dedication to craftsmanship and creativity, the TIME : SPACE COLLECTION highlights a deep connection to nature, depicting time travel by combining the past and future.
A Symbolic Fusion of Past and Future
With only 200 in existence, TIME : SPACE captures the essence of time travel and incomparable craft. The vessel, designed with two chambers, holds each of the whiskies: the 1940 vintage, representing the past, is housed in the outer chamber. Two casks were hand-selected – a first fill American Oak Butt and second fill European Oak Butt, both sherry-seasoned in Jerez de la Frontera and matured in Speyside, Scotland. Bottled at 43.6% ABV, the 84-year maturation yields a unique depth of flavor in this aged single malt Scotch.
The single malt in the central chamber is a 2018 vintage, marking the first-ever whisky from The Macallan’s new distillery – a nod to the brand’s future. During the transition to the new Distillery in 2018, The Macallan maintained its exacting standards to ensure the single malt’s quality and taste continuity.

TIME : SPACE Mastery showcases the craft of whisky mastery with 14 exceptional cask types, creating layers of complexity with depth in aroma, texture, and flavor. “Inspired by past masters, we explored our warehouses to capture the complex influences of cask seasoning, oak origin, cask size, and distillery character in one incredibly special bottle – with European Oak character at its heart,” says Euan Kennedy, Lead Whisky Maker.
TIME : SPACE Mastery encompasses The Macallan’s mastery, featuring influences from European Oak and American Oak sherry-seasoned casks, American Oak Bourbon casks, and select refill casks, resulting in a voluptuous depth in aroma, flavor, and texture.

TIME : SPACE is housed in a circular vessel symbolizing life’s journey, with a vibrant red presentation case featuring 200 spikes representing the bicentennial. Created using origami techniques, this intricate design protects The Macallan’s incomparable whisky.
