NILIAITTA CABIN

Situated in a dense forest near Salamajärvi National Park on the Kivijärvi Resort, the Niliaitta Cabin was designed as a direct response to the sensitive landscape. Inspired by its namesake — a traditional Lapland building used by indigenous Samí people to store food outdoors out of reach from wild animals — the shelter is suspended by a single pillar, reducing disruption to the terrain and is positioned to minimize tree removal. A black timber facade helps fade the exterior into the surrounding trunks, while natural wood develops a warm, cozy atmosphere on the inside. To keep guests connected to the outdoors, a full window wall brings in views of the rugged forest scenery.
