Teeling Small Batch Irish Whiskey is an Irish Whiskey with layers of unique flavour influenced by unconventional cask maturation techniques. Hand-selected casks of grain and malt whiskey are initially fully aged in Ex-Bourbon barrels, then married together in Central American Rum casks for up to 12 months for a unique, dried fruit profile.
Teeling Small Batch Irish Whiskey Tasting Notes:
Nose- The scent straight out of the bottle took about 10 minutes to fully develop, which gave a sense of mystery and intrigue that was exciting. First pass was sour dried fruit, maybe mango, then a heavy oak spice. Last to mature were the smells of something sweet like toffee or caramel drizzled over a warm golden apple, then vanilla with a high alcohol content base that gets stronger as the glass is lifted to the mouth.
Palate- Quick and to the point, high rush of exotic fruit flavor rapidly followed by a heated swallow. Nothing more and nothing less.
Finish- I was expecting more flavors to surface once the liquid had gone down and settled, but was left with mild tingling on the tongue and warmth in the throat. It lacked the overall components to commit to a second glass.
