1998 MCLAREN F1 COUPE

Only 64 road-going examples of what is arguably the greatest car ever built — the McLaren F1 — were made. Designer Gordon Murray poured everything the team at McLaren had learned over decades in F1 to build the car, and it did not disappoint — and has only gotten better with age. This 1998 F1 was brought back to McLaren to have the high-downforce kit and 18-inch wheels installed some seven months after it was built. The car also has prototype headlights using BMW Z1 internals that were tested but never put into production. Having covered 16,400 miles over its lifetime, this F1 has been enjoyed, not just displayed, and will go to auction at RM Sotheby’s August event in Monterey, California.
