Hummer made its name with rugged SUVs, so it was a bit surprising when the first vehicle from the relaunched brand was a truck. That’s been remedied with the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV. As the name suggests, the SUV has an all-electric powertrain, with up to 850 horsepower, a range of over 300 miles, up to three motors, and a 0-60 time as scant as 3.5 seconds. Like the EV Truck, it also has a diagonal-driving Crab Mode and an Extract Mode, which lifts the cab an extra six inches off the ground to help tackle large obstacles. Also available is an Infinity Roof with removable panels for an open-air experience. The loaded Edition 1 models, available with or without the Extreme Off-Road Package, will hit dealers in early 2023, with the lesser, more affordable models following that Spring.
