BELVEDERE ISLAND HOUSE

Designed by architect Henrik Bull in 1956, the Belvedere Island House embraces its topography and takes advantage of the views. The timber-clad dwelling is suspended on a hillside on California’s Belvedere Island. Fully renovated, the mid-century modern shell envelopes a tasteful selection of sleek, contemporary finishes and modern amenities. West-facing floor-to-ceiling glazing provides sweeping vistas across the bay reaching Mount Tamalpais and Fort Mason while sliding doors expand the interior to outdoor decks and patios. Take the elevator down to the primary suite with a spa-like bathroom and private porch. A flagstone walkway leads farther down the hillside to an impeccably-designed Japanese maple garden and custom hot tub area.
