When planning a project for Qatar, ordinary won’t do. That’s why Hayri Atak Architectural Design Studio pulled out all of the stops when they envisioned the Eco-Floating Hotel. The ambitious project extends from the shore of the Arab country and rests on the surface of the Persian Gulf. Its circular volume slowly rotates by dynamic positioning, completing one revolution every 24 hours. A glass vortex-shaped roof coveres the interior areas and doubles as a rainwater collection system for the hotel’s greenery. Solar panels and wind turbines will provide power, adding to the property’s sustainability. Offering 152 rooms, each with their own balcony as well as indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a sauna, spa, and gym, the projected to be completed by 2025.
