EL CEMENTO UNO HOUSE

Sitting on five acres in Joshua Tree, the El Cemento Uno House contrasts the rugged landscape with a sleek, minimalist form. The 1,674 square foot retreat sits lightly in a boulder field, appearing to float above the natural rock formations. Its rectangular silhouette is composed of RSG 3-D to give the volume a fireproof and earthquake-resistant shell. Internally, a pair of master suites, a powder room, and an open living space are trimmed out with luxe finishes like custom terrazzo tile, rift-cut oak millwork, and bespoke LED lighting. Power-operated blinds protect the interior from the harsh sunlight, but with the push of a button, they open to reveal floor-to-ceiling glazing, blurring the boundaries between the inside and the vast desert landscape.
