FOREST VIEW HOUSE

Horomystudio suspends a remote family retreat among the trees in Russia. Occupying a small wooded hillside, the Forest View House utilizes a small footprint to minimize disruption to the existing landscape. Part of the building is dug into the terrain, while the remaining is perched on a series of stilts. Both volumes are clad in dark timber slats and blend the monolithic structure into the dense forest setting. Extending six stories, the first two floors are reserved for technical equipment. The remaining four levels are comprised of residential space including bedrooms and living spaces for multiple families. Contrasting the stark exterior, the interior takes on a light-airy aesthetic with white walls, pale wood floors, and large windows framing in views of the surrounding treetops.
