Placed on the rocky shoreline of Finland’s capital, the Majamaja Wuorio Eco-Cabin makes use of off-grid technologies and prefabricated elements to create a truly remote retreat. The minimalist shelter is made from wood components constructed off-site that require no major equipment. With minimal disruption to the natural environment, the structure can be easily disassembled and moved. Another aspect that makes the isolated dwelling possible is its patented technology. The closed-circuit wastewater treatment system collects rainwater or air humidity and stores it in integrated reservoir tanks. Once the water is cleaned by the water purification system, it’s sent to the showers and kitchen, leading to significant water savings. As far as power, solar panels and a fuel cell provide green energy storage for the filter system, lights, and appliances. The Majamaja will be available for short-term rentals in 2021
