MOUNT VEEDER OUTPOST

Perched on a rocky ravine in the mountains of Napa, the Mount Veeder Outpost is a contemporary family retreat. The two-story cube mimics the charred bark of the surrounding redwoods with corrugated steel cladding. Folds in the facade act as a funnel to the front door, encouraging visitors to enter the warm interior lined with nautical-grade Russian Birch plywood. ONce inside, the floor-to-ceiling windows open the black box to views of the landscape. The glazing continues up to the lofted main bedroom, affording vistas over the treetops and the vineyards below.
