NUWA CITY

During a competition organized by The Mars Society and developed by SONet Network, ABIBOO Studio introduced Nuwa City. The vertical habitation is imagined on the side of a cliff on the Red Planet. With the potential to house over one million people, its structures’ designs are influenced by the harsh conditions resulting in a network of tunnels and modules embedded into the rock. Each building features green areas and urban gardens with animals and bodies of water to keep residents connected to Earth, while an area at the top of the cliff contains an infrastructure dedicated to manufacturing, food production, and energy generation. The plan can be used as a model to reproduce additional Martian cities, with five in total and Nuwa being the capital.
