SURF HOUSE

Sited adjacent to Santa Cruz’s iconic surf breaks, Feldman Architecture has reimagined the classic surf shack into a modern beach retreat. The Surf House doesn’t shy away from the California boho vibes with a clean, simple form clad in repurposed Monterey Cypress. Its board and batten facade create a nearly opaque facade from the roadside, while a garage and custom surfboard shed conceal an entry courtyard. Once inside, full walls of glazing open the interior up to views of the Pacific. Warm, wood-lined interiors and furnishings selected by Commune create an upscale laid-back atmosphere that freely flows to an outdoor patio. Overlooking the ocean, the deck features a series of gathering spaces including a dining area with an outdoor kitchen, lounge space, and an in-ground hot tub to get the most out of the California coast.
